DONIPHAN WINS 4TH STRAIGHT LADY ROYALS CHRISTMAS CLASSIC
The Doniphan girls’ basketball team has continued their Christmas dynasty in Southeast Missouri.
The Donettes defeated Portageville 60-33 Saturday night to win the 27th Annual Lady Royals Christmas Classic. This is the fourth straight Christmas Classic Championship for Doniphan.
Also at the Christmas Classic on Saturday, Neelyville beat Poplar Bluff in the 3rd place game, Twin Rivers defeated Kennett in the 5th place game, and Malden was victorious over Holcomb for the consolation bracket championship.
VASHON TAKES HOME PB SHOWDOWN CROWN
Vashon is the new champion of the Poplar Bluff Showdown.
The Wolverines defeated Poplar Bluff 81-28 Saturday night to win the 37th Annual Poplar Bluff Showdown.
In the 3rd Place Game, Staley beat Izard County. Maumelle took home the Consolation Championship with a 87-76 win over McCracken County.
Trinity Christian won the 7th Place Game over Urbana.
VEHICLE SOUGHT IN CONNECTION TO HIT AND RUN
Authorities are investigating a hit and run crash in Butler County.
Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC news that on Friday, troopers investigated a leaving the scene crash on Route M near US Highway 67.
The suspect vehicle that left the scene could possibly be a white 2022-24 GMC AT4. The suspect vehicle was travelling westbound on Route M from Poplar Bluff and has front-end damage on the driver’s side.

TWO IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING PURSUIT
Two people have been taken into custody following a pursuit in southeast Missouri.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, on Friday, deputies were advised to be on the lookout for a white 2020 Dodge Durango that had fled from a State Trooper.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, which accelerated and led officers on a pursuit.
The vehicle exited I-55 at Matthews and drove east on State Highway 80 at high rates of speed until crashing into a ditch near County Road 706.
After the crash, two individuals fled from the vehicle on foot. They were both later taken into custody.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the suspects had thrown approximately 225 grams of Marijuana from the vehicle.
On Saturday, a warrant was issued for 25 year old Jaquan Dodds, of Charleston, on charges of aggravated fleeing from a stop, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence. His bond was set at $25,000, cash only.
A warrant was also issued for 25 year old Patrick Stayhorn, of East Prairie. Charges for Stayhorn were not released but he is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
FOUR NEW STATE TROOPERS WILL REPORT TO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI EARLY NEXT YEAR
Four new State Troopers have been assigned to Southeast Missouri.
Colonel Eric Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, tells KWOC News that a total of 30 troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on December 20th.
Four of the graduates are coming to Southeast Missouri.
Trooper Ryan Brown, of Doniphan, has been assigned to Butler and Ripley counties.
Trooper Cody Naramore, of Chaffee, will be going to Mississippi, New Madrid, and Scott counties.
Troopers Corbin Dougherty, of Van Buren, and Michael Rudy, of Thayer, will cover Carter and Reynolds Counties.
The new troopers will report to duty on Monday, January 6th.
TWO WEEK ROAD PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY NEAR MOREHOUSE
Route E in New Madrid County will be closed for two weeks so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can replace several culverts under the roadway.
The work zone is located near Morehouse, between Route 60 and Route H.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Friday, January 10.
