WANTED FUGITIVE ARRESTED IN FISK

A wanted fugitive was taken into custody last week in Southeast Missouri.

Officials with the Dexter Police Department tell KWOC News that they were working a joint operation on Thursday with the U.S. Marshals Service and A.T.F. to locate Michael Ryan of Fisk.

Ryan was located inside a vehicle in Dexter and fled from officers when they attempted to make a traffic stop. A motor vehicle pursuit ensued and traveled throughout portions of rural Stoddard County.

FISK WOMAN KILLED IN TWO VEHICLE WRECK

A Thursday morning wreck in Butler County resulted in fatal injuries for a Fisk woman.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 54 year old Amanda LeGrand pulled into the path of a freightliner on Route B shortly before 6:30 am on Thursday.

BUNKER MAN FLOWN TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL AFTER LOG TRUCK OVERTURNS

A log truck overturned Wednesday morning in Southeast Missouri resulting in injuries for the driver.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 70 year old Michael Hatcher was driving the truck on Route HH near Ellington when the vehicle ran off the side of the roadway and overturned.

MASS CASUALTY TRAINING EVENT TO BE HELD TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF

Three Rivers College students will get hands on training today during the biannual mass casualty training event.

The training event, which helps prepare students in participating programs for a mass casualty emergency such as a natural disaster or terrorist attack, will be held today at the Bess Activity Center.

KENNETT POLICE SEARCHING FOR VEHICLE IN POSSIBLE HIT AND RUN

Authorities in Kennett are asking for the public’s help in finding a vehicle that was involved in a possible hit and run.

According to the Kennett Police Department, a white Dodge Ram 1500 or 2500 was possibly involved in a hit and run accident Saturday night near the Delta Fair Grounds.

The truck will have damage to its right front bumper and/or fender and a picture of the vehicle is available on our Facebook page.

Anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the vehicle are asked to contact the Kennett Police Department at 573-888-4622.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE TONIGHT IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Severe weather is possible tonight in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.

According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected tonight. Severe storms will be possible throughout the region mainly in the afternoon and early evening hours, but the threat will be greatest in southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.

Officials say that damaging winds, large hail, locally heavy rainfall, and isolated tornadoes will all be possible.

INCOMING STORM SYSTEM BRINGS WITH IT CHANCE OF HEAVY RAINFALL

An incoming storm system is bringing with it the chance of heavy rainfall.

According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are possible with increasing rain chances later today and tonight.

Heavy rainfall will be the primary storm related hazard through the period. Weather officials say up to 3 inches of rain is likely with this storm system, along with isolated flooding being a concern.

The chances of heavy rain are also expected to continue into Thursday.

ENDANGERED SILVER ADVISORY CANCELLED AFTER MISSING MAN FOUND SAFE

Continuing to follow a story we brought you yesterday, an Endangered Silver advisory is over after a missing man was found safe.

The advisory had been issued by the Caruthersville Police Department for 85 year old Ray Treece, who had been missing since Sunday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Treece was located safe in Tennessee, however no further information was available.

VAN BUREN MAN DEAD FOLLOWING CARTER COUNTY WRECK

A Southeast Missouri man has died from injuries he received in a Carter County wreck.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 46 year old Jason Komrska, of Van Buren, was driving on Route C near Eastwood Saturday night when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree.

LADY RAIDERS DEFEAT WESTERN NEBRASKA TO SECURE PLACE IN FINAL FOUR

The Three Rivers College Women’s Basketball team has reached a place they have never been before.

The nine seed Lady Raiders defeated 16 seed Western Nebraska on Thursday, 79-71 to advance to the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Championship Semifinals.

WOMAN CHARGED WITH INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER IN CONNECTION TO DEATH OF A TODDLER

A Bloomfield woman is in custody in connection to the death of a toddler.

Officials with the Bloomfield Department of Public Safety tell KWOC News that on Tuesday, officers were dispatched to an area residence for a 17 month old toddler who was found unresponsive in a bathtub full of water.

The toddler was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The Stoddard County Major Case Squad was partially activated and it was determined that the toddler had been left unattended for an extended period of time.

TWO DEAD FOLLOWING WRECK IN RIPLEY COUNTY

Two people have died from injuries they received in a Ripley County wreck.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 24 year old Austin Harris, of Poplar Bluff, was driving on US Highway 160 near Fairdealing, when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck another vehicle.

LADY RAIDERS ADVANCE TO SECOND ROUND OF NJCAA TOURNAMENT

The Three Rivers College Lady Raiders used a late run to propel themselves into the second round of the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The Nine seed Lady Raiders defeated 24 seed Eastern Oklahoma State 76-74 on Monday in Lubbock, Texas.

LADY RAIDERS BEGIN NJCAA TOURNAMENT PLAY TODAY

The Three Rivers College Lady Raiders will begin their campaign for a national championship this afternoon.

The nine seed Lady Raiders will play 24 seed Eastern Oklahoma State College at noon today in Lubbock, Texas for the 1st round of the NJCAA Women’s Basketball tournament.

Three Rivers enters the tournament with an undefeated 21-0 record. Eastern Oklahoma is 18-4 for the season.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELEASED ABOUT TRAFFICKING ARREST IN BUTLER COUNTY

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol have released additional information about an arrest made earlier this week for sexual trafficking.

On Tuesday investigators contacted 61 year old Chester Burress at his residence in Poplar Bluff, regarding an ongoing investigation. During their contact with Burress, child pornography was located on his cellular telephone. Burress was arrested and transported to the Butler County Jail.

The City of Dexter has a new city administrator and police chief.

According to the Dexter Police Department, Chief of Police Trevor Pulley has taken over as the Dexter City Administrator.

Following the change, Captain Hank Trout was promoted to Chief of Police.

FRIDAY STORM SYSTEMS BRING WIND DAMAGE AND GOLFBALL SIZE HAIL TO BUTLER COUNTY

The storm system that crossed Southeast Missouri on Friday brought damage to some areas of Butler County.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms produced isolated large hail up to the size of golf balls, along with isolated wind damage during the afternoon and evening hours on Friday.

GROUNDBREAKING TO BE HELD TODAY AT NEW POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

A groundbreaking will be held today for a new facility in Poplar Bluff.

The groundbreaking of the Poplar Bluff Police Department has been scheduled for 11:30 am this morning at 911 Shelby Road.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will also feature Southeast Missouri’s Senator Jason Bean and other local and state leaders.
