SEVEN MONTH OLD POPLAR BLUFF CHILD DIES AFTER BEING FOUND NOT BREATHING A Poplar Bluff infant has died after being found not breathing.
Butler County Coroner Jim Akers tells KWOC News officers responded with EMS personnel to a residence on the south side of Poplar Bluff, early Sunday morning, in reference to a seven-month-old child who was not breathing.
The infant was pronounced dead at the scene. Akers says an autopsy will be performed later today, however foul play is not suspected.
HEAVY RAINS OVER THE WEEKEND CAUSING FLOODING OVER THE AREA Flood Warnings are currently in effect for the Black River, Current River, and the St. Francis River until mid-week.

Myers added the Black River at Poplar Bluff should crest mid-week at about 18 feet. Flood stage is 16 feet.
JOHN 3:16 MINISTRIES TO HOLD 4TH ANNUAL WINTER BLAST THIS WEEKEND John 3:16 Ministries in Charlotte, Arkansas, will be holding their 4th Annual Winter Blast on Saturday, January 2nd.
The fundraising event at the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro will include dinner and entertainment along with a silent and live auction. There will also be a kids’ corner with bounce houses and games.

BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION PREPARATIONS TO CAUSE DELAYS IN CARTER COUNTY Route M in Carter County will be reduced to one lane beginning today so contractor crews can perform shoulder work in preparation for construction on the new bridge over Pike Creek.
The work zone is located on Route M from County Road 100 to one half mile north of County Road 101.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday, January 29th from 7 am to 5 pm each day, including weekends as necessary.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, ongoing construction work will continue through late summer.
TEENAGER INJURED IN ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING HAS DIED Continuing to follow a story for you, a Butler County teenager who was injured last Monday in an accidental shooting has died.
Butler County Coroner Jim Akers tells KWOC News 17 year old Kaitlyn Pullam died Saturday afternoon at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. According to family pastor David Stewart of First United Methodist Church, doctors had pronounced her “brain-dead” last Thursday. Doctors were unable to detect any brain activity for 24 hours.
Witnesses at the scene told authorities that, another person in the residence was attempting to unload a black powder rifle when it discharged and went through a wall, striking Pullam.
METH ARREST MADE SATURDAY EVENING IN WAYNE COUNTY Authorities in Wayne County arrested a Poplar Bluff woman Saturday evening on a meth charge.
According to the Highway Patrol, 40 year old Mary Downs was taken into custody at around 10:30 pm on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine.
Downs is also facing a charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BREAKFAST TO BE HELD ON 1ST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH Officials with the Knights of Columbus say they are holding a monthly breakfast on Sundays.
The breakfast is scheduled for the 8 am to 11 am on the 1st Sunday of every month at the New Knights of Columbus Hall on North Grand Avenue in Poplar Bluff.
There is no cost to attend, however donations will be accepted.
29TH ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF SHOWDOWN BEGINS TODAY AT E.T. PETERS GYM The 29th Annual Poplar Bluff Showdown at E.T. Peters Gym will begin this afternoon at 4 PM. Teams this year include Vashon, Liberty Tech, Jonesboro, Memphis Central, Kenwood, Grenade, Cordova, and Poplar Bluff. Tickets are $4 per day, and there will be a 3 point and slam dunk contest Tuesday morning at 10 AM free of charge.
Poplar Bluff begins there Showdown this evening as they face the Crusaders from Liberty Tech. Pre-Game begins at 6:30 PM and tip-off at 7 PM.
