DEXTER MAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE WRECK
An area man has died following a motorcycle wreck yesterday in Cape Girardeau County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell us that 25 year old Jacob Fields, of Dexter, was attempting to pass a vehicle on Missouri Highway 25 when the wreck occurred.
The vehicle Fields was trying to pass was making a left hand turn and Fields motorcycle collided with the rear of the vehicle, ejecting him.
Fields was pronounced dead at the scene.
AREA SHERIFF WARNING OF FAKE ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS IN CIRCULATION
An area sheriff is warning citizens and businesses about possible fake money.
Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller tells us that there have been reports of fake one hundred dollar bills that have been in circulation in the area.
Pictures of the bills were posted on the Clay County Sheriff’s Department facebook page.
Sheriff Miller advises everyone to be on the lookout for any counterfeit bills and if they were to encounter them, contact the Clay County Sheriff's Department.
POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER HER MOTORCYCLE HITS A DER
A Poplar Bluff woman has serious injuries after her motorcycle hit a deer on Sunday.
According to authorities, 58 year old Teresa Persons hit the deer Sunday afternoon on Highway 19, near Grier in Oregon County.
Following the wreck, Persons was taken by ambulance to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON SALE OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WARRANT
A Poplar Bluff man was taken into custody early Sunday morning on a warrant out of Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Rusty Bryant was arrested on a warrant for felony sale of a controlled substance.
Bryant is also facing a charge of driving while suspended.
DONIPHAN MAN FLOWN TO AREA HOSPITAL FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A single vehicle wreck on Monday has left a Doniphan man with serious injuries.
According to the Highway Patrol, 43 year old Shain Radford’s vehicle ran off the side of Highway U, near Doniphan, and struck a tree.
Radford, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was taken by Air Evac to St. Francis Medical Center.
DEXTER WOMAN IN CUSTODY ON CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WARRANT
Authorities in Stoddard County say a Dexter woman is in custody on a controlled substance warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 43 year old Lesa Lynn Freeman was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and possession of a controlled substance.
Freeman remained in jail as of this morning on a $9,500 bond.
DRIVERS URGED TO USE CAUTION IN THE AREA OF THE 100 MILE YARD SALE THIS WEEKEND
The annual 100 mile yard sale is this weekend and the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging motorists to use caution.
The yard sale spans from Jackson to Kennett along Missouri State Highway 25 and will begin on Thursday and continue through Memorial Day on Monday.
Traffic Engineer Craig Compas tells us that there will be more traffic and congestion along the highway this weekend than any other.
MoDOT will have message boards in place along the route to alert drivers of the unusual traffic patterns and promote safe driving.
