MULTIPLE CHURCHES IN BUTLER AND STODDARD COUNTIES BROKEN INTO OVER THE WEEKENDOfficials in Butler and Stoddard County are investigating multiple church break-ins that occurred over the holiday weekend.

According to authorities, two of the break-ins were located in Butler County.

Cornerstone Tabernacle UPC in Poplar Bluff reported on their Facebook page that multiple items were stolen, including a keyboard and other sound equipment.

Another Poplar Bluff church, posted that computers, sound systems, and guitars were stolen from them.

Officials say there were also break-ins at churches in Stoddard County as well.

SILVA MAN INJURED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A VEHICLE IN BUTLER COUNTY A Silva man was injured Sunday night after he was hit by a vehicle in Butler County.

According to the Highway Patrol, 36 year old Danny Robertson was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking on US 67, four miles north of Poplar Bluff.

Robertson suffered minor injuries and was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE IN STODDARD COUNTY Authorities arrested a Poplar Bluff woman over the weekend on a felony meth charge.

According to the Highway Patrol, 28 year old Danielle Laporte was taken into custody Saturday afternoon in Stoddard County on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Following the arrest, she was taken to the Stoddard County jail on a 24 hour hold.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR ANNUAL DONIPHAN KID’S FISHING CLINIC Registration is open for the annual Doniphan Kid's Fishing Clinic.

The event will be held on June 8th, beginning at 8:30 am. Officials say that space is limited and all attendees are required to register by calling the Doniphan Police Department at 996-7123. The clinic will be limited to 50 kids between the ages of 5 and 12.

Lunch along with transportation to and from the pond will be provided. The Doniphan Police Department and The Missouri Department of Conservation are also providing the tackle to be used during the clinic.

NEELYVILLE WOMAN KILLED IN UTV WRECK A Neelyville woman has died following a late night wreck Friday in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 20 year old Shelby Carter was riding on a UTV, when the vehicle rolled over and ejected her. Carter, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No details were released on what caused the UTV to roll over and no injuries were listed for the driver.

ELLSINORE MAN FACING METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE An Ellsinore man is facing a methamphetamine charge following his arrest Monday in Wayne County.

According to authorities, 26 year old Jeremy Miller was arrested shortly before noon on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Miller was held in the Wayne County Jail following the arrest.

GOVERNOR NIXON PARDONS MAN WHO PLED GUILTY OF BURGLARY IN STODDARD COUNTY IN 1993 Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has granted pardons to nine people who were convicted of non-violent offenses.

One of the pardons was for John Robey, who pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree burglary in Stoddard County in 1993. He served six months in prison which was followed by a five-year term of probation, from which he was granted an early discharge.

Robey is an officer in the Missouri National Guard who was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service in Afghanistan. He currently works in computer security consulting.

Gov Nixon says that each of the individuals pardoned has completed his or her sentence and become a law-abiding citizen.

CUBA ACCEPTS 20 TON SHIPMENT OF RICE GROWN IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI The country of Cuba has received a shipment of rice from Southeast Missouri.

According to Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, on Monday Cuba formally accepted a 20-ton shipment of high-quality, long-grain rice grown and processed by the Martin Rice Company of Bernie.

Governor Nixon announced the shipment during an address to an entrepreneurial forum being held for members of a Missouri trade delegation and Cuban businesses and officials from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment and the Cuba Chamber of Commerce.

The shipment of rice arrived at the deep-water Port of Mariel last week. There have been no U.S. rice sales to Cuba since 2008.
