POPLAR BLUFF MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON METH CHARGESA Poplar Bluff man is facing a methamphetamine charge in connection to his arrest early Wednesday morning.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 28 year old Clifford Brooks, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. Brooks is also facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, Brooks was taken to the Butler County Justice Center.
EIGHTY THREE TICKETS ISSUED DURING DEXTER CLICK IT OR TICKET MOBILIZATION The Dexter Police Department has announced the results of a seat belt mobilization effort that was held earlier this month.
The Click it or Ticket mobilization was held from May 25 until June 5 and resulted in Dexter Police ticketing forty-one motorists for not wearing seat belts.
Forty-two additional citations were issued during the enforcement effort for other traffic violations.
As a part of the mobilization, officers also conducted a safety checkpoint where seatbelt pamphlets were passed out to motorists reminding them of the importance of seatbelts.
DATE SET FOR 16TH ANNUAL SCHOOL READINESS EVENT The South Central Missouri Community Action Agency has announced the date for the 16th Annual School Readiness Event.
The event will be held on August 18th at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff.
The event, previously known as the Back to School Fair, is an annual event targeting children of low income families in Butler County. During the event, various vendors provide free services to low-income children returning to school.
Services include health screenings, safety and health information, fingerprinting, and educational information for parents. The SCMCAA also provides free school supplies to all children in attendance.

WILLIAMSVILLE WOMAN FACES METH AND MARIJUANA CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY A Williamsville woman is facing multiple charges in connection to her arrest Tuesday evening in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 43 year old Crystal Shouse was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, Shouse was transported to the Butler County Justice Center.
DONIPHAN WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK A Doniphan woman was injured early Wednesday morning following a single vehicle wreck on US 160 in Ripley County.
According to authorities, a vehicle driven by 30 year old Autumn Reece, drove off the side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Reece was taken by EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, with moderate injuries.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEEK IN REYNOLDS COUNTY Area job seekers will get the opportunity to learn some needed skills next week.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO BEGIN TODAY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY Route Y in Dunklin County will be reduced to one lane beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located between Route 412 and Route 164.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through Thursday, June 23rd from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
