ONE KILLED, THREE INJURED, IN NEW MADRID COUNTY WRECKA Hayti man is dead and three others are injured following a two vehicle wreck Thursday night in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred on US 61 when a vehicle driven by 44 year old Steven Cameron, of Marston, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head on.

The driver of the second vehicle, 53 year old Leo House the third was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cameron and a passenger in House’s vehicle suffered serious injuries and were flown to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. A second passenger in House’s vehicle received moderate injuries.

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK AT TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH IN POPLAR BLUFF Monday will mark the beginning of vacation bible school at a Poplar Bluff church.

The event will be held from 6 pm to 8:30 pm Monday through Friday next week at Temple Baptist Church.

Children age 4 through the 6th grade can attend for free. Temple Baptist Church is located at 1813 Barron Road.

 

POPLAR BLUFF MULES SOFTBALL SEASONS TICKETS ON SALE Reserved Chairback Seating Season Tickets are now on sale for the Poplar Bluff Mules upcoming softball season.

The season tickets are available for $50 at the Athletic Department.

There are currently six home games on the scheduled and officials say that general admission bleacher seating will also be available for $4 per game.

 

DRIVERS URGED TO NOT PLAY POKEMON GO WHILE DRIVING Pokemon Go is a game being enjoyed by many in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas; however authorities are warning players that there is a time and place for enjoying the game.

The Arkansas State Police and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are asking motorists to not play the game, or use their cell phone while driving.

A driver in New York reportedly admitted to having been playing the game when his vehicle struck a tree. He was not seriously injured.

The ASP says drivers should put their phone down and keep their eyes on the road.

 

WEEK LONG ROAD PROJECT UNDERWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY Route MM in Stoddard County is being reduced to one lane through the middle of next week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

According to MoDOT, work will take place through Wednesday, July 20th from 7 am to 6 pm each day.

The section of Route MM being reduced is located from Route U to Route J.

 

ENTRIES BEING ACCEPTED FOR 8TH ANNUAL MULESKINNER GOLF TOURNAMENT Entries for teams are being accepted for the 8th Annual Muleskinner Golf Tournament.

The 4 person scramble tournament will be held on Friday, August 5th at the Westwood Hills Country Club. Organizers say the entry fee is $500 per team, which includes a cart and lunch. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100 per hole.

All proceeds will go to benefit the Poplar Bluff Mules athletics programs.
