MAN FLOWN TO MEMPHIS HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS LEG INJURY FOLLOWING PEDESTRIAN VS. TRAIN INCIDENT

 A man has been flown to a Memphis hospital following a pedestrian vs. train incident Thursday morning.

According to the Campbell Police Department, at around 6 am Thursday officers responded to an area railroad intersection in connection to the incident.

At the scene, they found 39 year old Jon M. Bevill Jr. approximately 300 feet west of the railroad crossing. Bevill had suffered a serious leg injury, but was alert and conscious.

Campbell Police say that the Union Pacific Railroad Police are investigating the incident.

 

ENDANGERED PERSON ADVISORY ISSUED FOR MISSING 13 YEAR OLD GIRL

An Endangered Person Advisory has been issued for a teenage girl who is missing out of Dent County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 13 year old Harley Hopper, was seen by a witness leaving her residence with a backpack and getting into the suspect vehicle. She has not been contacted since.

Hopper is described as a white female, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 220 pounds with black hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. She could be wearing a blue striped shirt, blue jeans, and cowboy boots.

The possible suspect is believed to be 22 year old Kenneth Dylan Whitehead. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 187 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. Whitehead could have ties to the Sullivan area or the state of Ohio.

The vehicle involved is a white, older model, GMC full size pickup, bearing an unknown registration. It was last seen northbound on Missouri-19 in Salem.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency.

 

TWO IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING ALLEGED STABBING IN KENNETT

Two people are in custody in connection to an alleged stabbing in Kennett.

Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell us that officers were dispatched to a disturbance Wednesday night, shortly before 8 pm. When they arrived, they found that one person had been stabbed in the arm and the suspects had fled the scene.

A short time later, two suspects were located during a traffic stop and placed under arrest. 58 year old Robert Easley and 48 year old Cynthia Lester, both of Kennett, are being held at the Dunklin County Jail pending formal charges from the State Prosecutors Office.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

 

MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO ARMED ROBBERY

A man who was being sought in connection to an armed robbery in Caruthersville has been taken into custody.

According to authorities, 38 year old Anthony Jackson was wanted following an armed robbery at a Casey’s General Store Wednesday night. He was arrested Thursday morning and is facing a charge of 1st degree robbery.

Another man has also been taken into custody in connection to the robbery. His name was not available.

 

EAST PRAIRIE MAN ARRESTED ON WARRANT FOR KIDNAPPING AND DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Updating a story we brought to you earlier this week, an East Prairie man has been taken into custody following a warrant being issued for his arrest.

According to authorities, 40 year old Joseph Latamondeer was arrested Thursday in Mississippi County.

A warrant was issued last week for Latamondeer on charges of armed criminal action, 1st degree domestic assault, and kidnapping.

A woman told authorities last week that she had been assaulted by Latamondeer.

 

STODDARD COUNTY FAIR CONTINUES TODAY

Festivities are set to continue today at the Stoddard County Fair.

Starting at 7 pm tonight, Bootheel Tractor Pullers will be live at Arena A, while the second night of karaoke will be featured at Arena B. Tonight’s main stage performance will be the Jason Young Band, also beginning at 7 pm.

Multiple events are on the schedule for Saturday, including the Buyers Breakfast at 8 am, the 4H and FFA Livestock Auction at 9 am, and the Demo Derby at 7 pm. Anna Catherine DeHart will be performing on the main stage at 7 pm and the night will be capped off with the fireworks show, starting at approximately 9 pm.

7th ANNUAL JOSH BURSON MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD TOMORROW

The 7th Annual Josh Burson Memorial Golf Tournament has been scheduled for tomorrow in Poplar Bluff.

The 4 man scramble tournament will be held at the Ozark Ridge Golf Course.

The tournament will be followed by a fish fry dinner at the Eagles Lodge beginning at 6 pm. The dinner will also have an auction and raffles. All proceeds will go to the Josh Burson Memorial Scholarship.

MAN GIVEN PROBATION ON EMBEZLEMENT CHARGE

A man has been given probation on an embezzlement charge.

According to the United States Department of Labor, in June, John McCain pled guilty to one count of embezzling $30,948 in union funds. McCain is the former Secretary-Treasurer of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 1016 in Poplar Bluff.

He was given two years probation and a fine earlier this week.
