TWO TEENAGERS INJURED, ONE SERIOUSLY, IN CONNECTION TO WRECK NEAR DEXTERA 16 year old Dexter teenager suffered serious injuries Friday afternoon following a wreck in Stoddard County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a vehicle, driven by a 16 year old, overturned after it struck a concrete driveway.

The 16 year old was taken by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital. A passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries and was taken to a Dexter hospital.

 

DEDICATION CEREMONY SCHEDULED FOR STAFF SERGEANT ERIC W. SUMMERS A dedication ceremony for Staff Sgt. Eric W. Summers is scheduled for this Saturday at 10:00 am, at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce.

Missouri House Speaker Todd Richardson sponsored legislation naming Highway 67 in Butler County from Route M to the Route 60/67 interchange the “SSgt. Eric W. Summers Memorial Highway.”

Summers, who was deployed in support of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, died at the age of 32 in November of 2013.

 

POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH TO HOST TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT THIS WEEK A Poplar Bluff area church will be hosting a Trunk or Treat event this week.

Westwood Baptist Church will be holding the event from 6:30 to 8 pm on Wednesday night. Church officials say there will be free hotdogs and chips to the first 300 people, trunks full of candy for the kids, bounce houses, live music, and free hot chocolate.

Westwood Baptist Church is located across the highway from Larry Hillis Dodge on Highway 67 North.

ELKS RIDERS ASSOCIATION HALLOWEEN PARTY SCHEDULED FOR THIS SATURDAY The Elks Riders Association is hosting a Halloween Party on October 29th from 8 pm to midnight.

The party and costume contest will be held at the Poplar Bluff Elks Lodge on Highway 67 north. Tickets are $20 per couple or $10 for a single and will be available at the door.

DONIPHAN MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY DRUG CHARGE A Doniphan man is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest over the weekend in Ripley County.

According to authorities, 49 year old Ronald Cooper was taken into custody Saturday evening on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Cooper is also facing a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS SCHEULED FOR THIS WEEK IN CARTER COUNTY East and Westbound Route 60 in Carter County will be reduced to one lane this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway affected is located between Route J and Route C.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Thursday, October 27th from 6:30 am to 5 pm daily.

 

ART WALK SCHEDULED FOR THIS FRIDAY IN DOWNTOWN DONIPHAN There will be multiple attractions at an event scheduled for Friday night in Downtown Doniphan.

Officials say the Downtown Doniphan Art Walk has been scheduled from 6 to 9 pm on Friday. There will be live music, a car show, kids activities, food vendors, and art on display from local artists. Admission to the event is free.

POPLAR BLUFF POM SQUAD TO HOST THEIR SECOND ANNUAL PRINCESS FOR A DAY FUNDRAISER The Poplar Bluff Pom Squad has announced they will be hosting their second annual Princess for a Day fundraising event on Saturday, October 29th.

The event is available for all girls ages 12 and under. Tickets are $25 and include a princess tiara, hair styling, make-up, and more. It will be held at the Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center and Gymnasium.
