TRUCK CARRYING AMMONIA NITRATE CATCHES FIRE IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

An evacuation was ordered for some in Northeast Arkansas Tuesday following a tractor-trailer fire in Randolph County.

The tractor-trailer rig was carrying ammonia nitrate when it caught fire near Reyno which caused an evacuation of homes for approximately a half-mile around the fire.

According to Randolph County Office of Emergency Services Coordinator Bo Graham, the brakes on the truck caught fire as the truck was travelling on Highway 67.

No one was injured during the incident.

  SIKESTON MAN FORMALLY CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, additional information has been released about the arrest of a Sikeston man.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old Robert Larson was arrested on Monday after a lengthy investigation conducted by members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit.

On Monday, investigators served a search warrant at Larson’s residence. As a result of the search, investigators located and seized computer equipment allegedly used to commit the crimes.

Yesterday, the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office formally charged Larson with three counts of possession of child pornography. His bond was set at $50,000.

  TRIVIA NIGHT TO BE HELD TO SUPPORT NEW TWIN RIVERS PRACTICE FACILITY

A Trivia Night fundraiser has been scheduled for next week to help support a new indoor practice facility being built for the Twin Rivers Baseball and Softball teams.

Jared Stockton tells us that the new facility should be completed in a week or two and the softball and baseball teams are responsible for finishing out the inside of it with equipment such as netting and turf.

The Trivia Night will be held at 6 pm on Saturday, November 5th at the Twin Rivers High School Gymnasium. The cost is $20 per person with five to eight people per team.

In addition to the trivia there will also be a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.

  TWO ARRESTED ON FELONY METH CHARGE

Two men are facing a felony meth charge following their arrests Tuesday night.

According to the Highway Patrol, 39 year old Gary Sisk and 37 year old Rodger Burney, both of Sikeston, were each taken into custody shortly before midnight on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Sisk and Burney are also each facing a charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

  MALDEN CHURCH TO HOST MONSTER MASH ON HALLOWEEN

1st General Baptist Church of Malden will be hosting their annual Monster Mash Party next week.

The event will be held at the Family Life Center in Malden from 7 to 9 pm on Halloween.

Officials say there will be game and trick or treat, and café booths as well as a dance floor.

  FIRST CHURCH OF GOD IN POPLAR BLUFF TO HOST TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT

First Church of God will be hosting a Trunk or Treat event for Halloween.

The event will be held from 6 to 8 pm on October 31st.

First Church of God is located on South Westwood Boulevard in Poplar Bluff.

  POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOLS TO BE DISMISSED ON HALLOWEEN

Students in Poplar Bluff will be getting an extra treat for Halloween.

Poplar Bluff R-1 Superintendent Scott Dill says that R-1 schools will be dismissed on Monday, October 31st.

The off day had been included on the school calendar. The regular class schedule will resume on Tuesday, November 1st.
