THREE DEAD FOLLOWING WRECK IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Three people, including two children, have died following an incident Tuesday in Dunklin County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, shortly before 10 pm Tuesday night a vehicle driven by 55 year old Benny Johnson, of Milan, Tennessee, struck a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of Route MM. Johnson’s vehicle also struck two people standing outside the parked vehicle.
The two people standing outside the vehicle, as well as one person that was inside the parked vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene. The people killed have been identified as 32 year old Tiffani Santana, of Butler, Missouri along with a 10 year old and two year old child, also of Butler.
Johnson was taken to a Dexter hospital with moderate injuries.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY AFTER EXPLOSIVES THROWN TOWARD POLICE
An investigation is underway following an incident Tuesday night where explosives were allegedly thrown toward area Police Officers.
According to authorities, officers in Steele had arrived at a location on Barnes Street where a large group of people were using fireworks in an unsafe manner.
The officers were getting out of their patrol cars when explosives were thrown toward them. The officers were not injured in the incident.
The crowd eventually broke up after deputies from Pemiscot County arrived on scene.
One person has been taken into custody and authorities say that additional arrests are expected.
RIVER RADIO BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR TOMORROW
Areas residents will get a chance to save lives and get a St. Louis Cardinals T-Shirt at tomorrow’s River Radio Blood Drive.
The blood drive has been scheduled for noon to 6 pm on Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic School Gym in Poplar Bluff.
The American Red Cross is facing a blood shortage and on Wednesday issued an emergency call for eligible individuals to donate blood or platelets as soon as possible.
Officials say that presenting donors will receive a St. Louis Cardinals commemorative blood drive t-shirt while supplies last.

POPLAR BLUFF STUDENT NAMED TO ALL-USA MISSOURI BASEBALL SECOND TEAM
A Poplar Bluff High School baseball player has been chosen for a state honor.
Poplar Bluff Athletic Director Kent Keith tells KWOC News that Tyson Cox has been named Second Team Infielder on the 2017 American Family Insurance All-USA Missouri Baseball Team.
The team was announced yesterday by USA Today High School Sports.
CARTER COUNTY FEMA DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER TO CLOSE ON SATURDAY
Two FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Southeast Missouri are set to close this weekend.
According to FEMA, the Recovery Centers in Van Buren and West Plains will close permanently at 2 pm on Saturday.
Officials say that many of the services available at the recovery centers are also be available on the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
The Recovery Center at the Alton School in Oregon County will remain open; however the operating hours will change.
The center will be open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 7 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm.

REPAIRS TO BEGIN TODAY ON INTERSTATE 55 IN PEMISCOT COUNTY
Southbound I-55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced with a 14 foot width restriction beginning today so contractor crews can perform bridge maintenance.
Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation tell us that the bridge is located between Route 412 and Route U.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through Saturday, July 29th from 6 am to 7 pm daily.
