CLARKTON MAN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Clarkton man has died following an early Saturday morning wreck in Dunklin County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 73 year old Gregory Reynolds was driving on Missouri Highway 25 near Clarkton when his vehicle began sliding, ran off the side of the road, and overturned.
Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene by Dunklin County Coroner James Powell.
MALDEN MAN FACING SODOMY AND KIDNAPPING CHARGES
Authorities in Malden say that an area man has been taken into custody on multiple charges including sodomy and kidnapping.
According to the Malden Police Department, on Thursday of last week, officers arrested Lanny Stewart, of Malden, on felony charges of sodomy in the first degree, kidnapping in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Stewart was held at the Malden Police Station, in lieu of a $250,000 cash bond, and later released to Dunklin County authorities.
According to Missouri Case Net, Stewart’s arraignment was scheduled for 9 am this morning.
TWO ARRESTED ON FELONY DRUG CHARGE IN BUTLER COUNTY
Two people were arrested Friday night in Butler County on a felony drug charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, shortly after 10 pm Friday night 48 year old Michael Hunter and 39 year old Christina Whitt, both of Poplar Bluff, were each arrested on multiple felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.
Hunter also reportedly had felony warrants from both Butler and Warren Counties.
DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON NEW YEARS DAY ON FELONY RESISTING ARREST CHARGE
A Dexter man is facing a felony resisting arrest charge following his arrest on New Year’s Day.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol arrest report, 23 year old Jordan Fitts was taken into custody shortly after 2 am Monday morning in Stoddard County on a charge of felony resisting arrest by fleeing.
Fitts is also reportedly facing a charge of driving while intoxicated.
REMEMBER TO TAKE OFF YOUR CHILD’S COAT BEFORE PLACING THEM IN CAR SEAT
Winter is underway and parents are being reminded to take off their child’s coat before placing them in a car seat.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, if you fasten your child in their car seat with their winter coat on, it could potentially be dangerous. The harness is not tight enough to prevent them from slipping out during a crash.
Parents should instead wait and put a coat or blanket around their child once the harness is secure.
COLD WEATHER CONTINUES THIS MORNING IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
2018 is starting off cold in Southeast Missouri.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, morning temperatures are in the single digits across most of our listening area.
A wind chill advisory is also in effect until noon today with lowest wind chill readings this morning being near 10 degrees below zero. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Temperatures are not expected to go farther than the upper teens to lower 20s today. A moderate jump in high temperatures is expected for Wednesday, but another cold front is coming through that will usher colder weather back into the region for Thursday.
DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WARRANT
A Dexter man has been taken into custody on a controlled substance warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 46 year old Michael McMunn was recently arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
Officials say that McMunn’s bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
