ONE DEAD FOLLOWING CRASH IN RIPLEY COUNTY
A Southeast Missouri man has died from injuries he received early Saturday morning in a single vehicle crash in Ripley County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 22 year old man from Harviell, was driving on US Highway 160, 10 miles east of Doniphan, when his vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a mailbox, two utility poles, and overturned.
The man, who was not wearing a safety device, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ripley County Coroner.
NEAR DROWNING REPORTED AT PEOPLES CREEK BEACH AT LAKE WAPPAPELLO
A near drowning was reported at Peoples Creek Beach in Wayne County.
Few details have been released, however Operations Manager Bart Dearborn with the US Army Corps of Engineers tells KWOC News, the incident occurred around 3:30 pm Sunday, when a 20 year old man had an incident in the water at Peoples Creek Beach.
Emergency responders were called to the scene after bystanders began performing CPR on the male victim. First responders arrived shortly after and continued life-saving efforts before transporting the man to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
His current condition remains unknown.
The incident is under investigation by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY ON ROUTE 62 NEAR RISCO
Route 62 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.
The bridge is located between Route NN and County Road 537 near Risco.
Work is scheduled to take place today through 4 p.m.
MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
A Maynard man has been taken into custody in connection to a homicide investigation in Northeast Arkansas.
According to the Arkansas State Police, on May 29th, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a call from 47 year old Christopher Borrenson, of Maynard, who stated that he had been shot.
Officials say that Borreson succumbed to his gunshot wounds while on the call.
30 year old Joshua Smith, of Maynard, has been arrested in connection to the death.
Smith was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he is facing charges of First-Degree Murder.
JUVENILE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN TWO VEHICLE CRASH IN MISSISSIPPI COUNTY
A juvenile received moderate injuries following a multi vehicle crash in Mississippi County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that shortly before 4 pm on Friday, a vehicle drove into the path of another vehicle on Route BB, two miles south of East Prairie. The first vehicle then ran off the roadway and struck a ditch.
A 12 year old passenger in the second vehicle was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital with moderate injuries.
RIPLEY COUNTY EARNS MISSOURI BLUE SHIELD DESIGNATION
Ripley County is the latest Southeast Missouri community to earn the Missouri Blue Shield designation.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety has announced that Ripley County was selected for the designation, recognizing the community for its commitment to enhancing public safety and supporting law enforcement.
Sheriff Rad Talburt says that the honor was accomplished through tremendous support for the Sheriff’s Office by the citizens of Ripley County, the County Commissioners and the hard work of the Ripley County Deputies and office staff.
Achieving the Blue Shield designation allows communities to access state grants for law enforcement training and equipment.
