AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING BREAK-IN IN THE WAPPAPELLO AREAAuthorities in Wayne County are investigating a break-in that occurred in the Wappapello area.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, there was a break-in at the Rhodes 101 gas station a few nights ago that caused a serious amount of damage to the building.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.

 

STODDARD COUNTY FAIR BOARD SPONSORING DEMOLITION DERBY THIS WEEKEND The Stoddard County Fair Board is sponsoring a demolition derby taking place this weekend.

The event will begin at 7 pm on June 4th at the Stoddard County Fair Grounds in Dexter. Admission is $10, with kids six to 12 years old getting in for $5. Children five and under get in for free.

BELL CITY WINS STATE BASEBALL TITLE The Bell City Cubs are state champions in Baseball.

The Cubs defeated the New Covenant Academy Warriors 7-2 yesterday in O’ Fallon to take home the Class 1 Spring Season Baseball title.

This is second consecutive state championship for Bell City; they defeated Atlanta High School in last year’s final 6-3.

 

MARYLAND MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING ALLEGED OBSCENE ACT IN KENNETT Authorities in Kennett say a Maryland man is in custody in connection to an alleged obscene act.

Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell us that officers were dispatched to a Kennett business Wednesday afternoon, where two female employees stated they had observed the only customer in the business commit an obscene act toward them.

Officers arrested 44 year old Damon Knotts for indecent exposure. Following the arrest, Knotts was transported to the Dunklin County Jail.

 

NEW MADRID MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY FIREARM CHARGE A New Madrid man is facing a felony firearm charge following his arrest Tuesday in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 22 year old Jaylon Ross was taken into custody on a felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Following the arrest, Ross was held in New Madrid County on a 24 hour hold.

 

WALKING FOR TYLER SCHEUDLED FOR JUNE 4TH A fundraiser event has been scheduled to raise money for somebody who was involved in a four wheeler accident.

Walking for Tyler will be held at 9 am on June 4th at McLane Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring their dog along to the walk. Tyler Chilton was involved in a four wheeler accident in October and the fundraiser to help with his therapy.

There will be prizes and a silent auction, in addition to snacks and refreshments at the event.

T-Shirts and Bandanas will also be for sale.
