WOMAN AND CHILD RESCUED FROM RISING WATERS IN BUTLER COUNTYTwo people were rescued from flash flooding Monday in Butler County.

A woman and her four year old child had to be rescued after the woman’s vehicle stalled out in rising waters over County Road 4681. Both the Butler County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

Officials say that both the woman and her child were recovered safely and there were no injuries during the incident.

 

WOMAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING HER BOYFRIEND WITH A HAMMER A woman has been taken into custody after her boyfriend accused her of assaulting him with a hammer.

We spoke with Lieutenant Darron Moore with the Poplar Bluff Police Department about the incident.

On Sunday around 4 pm, officers responded to the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office in reference to an assault. The victim, Archie Cox, had walked to the Prosecutor’s office after reportedly being assaulted with a hammer by his girlfriend, Brenda Garmon. Cox had obvious injuries on his face and complained also of injuries on his thigh as a result of the assault. Garmon was contacted at her residence in the 100 block of South 8th by officers and placed under arrest. She was booked on a charge of 2nd degree domestic assault and later released pending a review by the Prosecutor’s office.

Lieutenant Moore would further add that Archie Cox was later arrested by Butler County Deputies for an outstanding warrant through the Butler County Courts.

 

MAN ARRESTED IN THE MIDDLE OF A DRUG DEAL IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS A man was allegedly in the middle of a drug deal when he was taken into custody in Northeast Arkansas.

Greene County Sheriff David Carter tells KWOC News that Michael Faries was arrested over the weekend for possession and delivery of crystal methamphetamine.

Following the arrest, Faries was transported to the Greene County Detention Center.

 

PART OF BUTLER COUNTY UNDER BOIL WATER ADVISORY A boil water advisory is in effect for part of Butler County.

Officials announced Monday morning that Public Water Supply District #3 was under a boil water advisory until further notice.

A reason for the advisory was not released.

 

VOTING UNDERWAY IN MISSOURI’S PRIMARY ELECTION Polls opened this morning at 6 am for the Missouri Primary Elections.

Multiple local and state nominations are up for grabs, including Governor and one of Missouri’s two United States Senate seats on the state side, along with numerous races in Butler County. State officials estimate that 31 percent of Missouri’s registered voters will participate in today’s primary elections.

You can find your voting location online at www.GoVoteMissouri.com. Polls will close at 7 pm, and anyone in line to vote at that time will still get to cast a ballot. Anyone who arrives after polling places close will not be allowed to vote.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG BUST IN POPLAR BLUFF A Poplar Bluff man is facing charges after marijuana was found in his vehicle following a traffic stop.

Captain Dave Sutton with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells KWOC News that officers conducted the traffic stop Sunday evening on 23 year old Querone Jones.

Jones was arrested, and his vehicle impounded, after officers found that Jones operator’s license was suspended.

While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, officials found a plastic bag of marijuana and a set of scales.

Jones was booked in on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, and no state registration. He was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

 

JONESBORO MAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING ATV ACCIDENT IN CLAY COUNTY A man has been flown to a Memphis hospital following an ATV accident in Clay County.

According to Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller, Clay County 911 received a report of the accident Saturday night shortly before 11 pm.

The driver of the ATV, 25 year old Jay Tate, of Jonesboro, was found at the scene with multiple injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and later flown by Air-Evac to the Med in Memphis. Miller says the last reports they received were that Tate was in critical, but stable, condition.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.

 

WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY AND TOMORROW FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS Route KK in Wayne County will be closed today and tomorrow while Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

MoDot officials say the section of Route KK to be closed is located from Route 34 to Twin Ponds Road.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 5 pm each day. During the repairs, the road will be open to local traffic only.
