FIVE ARRESTED ON HEROIN RELATED CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY Five Poplar Bluff residents were arrested on heroin related charges over a four hour period Saturday night in Butler County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the first arrest happened shortly after 10 pm Saturday night.

45 year old Terrell Ward and 35 year old Cody Marks were both arrested on felony charges of distribution of a controlled substance - heroin and possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Later that night, officers also arrested 59 year old Kendis Scroggins, 35 year old Shuntell Miller, and 29 year old Keshia Youngblood for felony possession of a controlled substance – heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials did not say if the five arrests were connected.

 

CITY OF CLARKTON UNDER BOIL WATER ORDER THIS WEEK

Residents in Clarkton are being asked to boil their water this week.

City officials say that the city of Clarkton is under a boil water order until Friday.

Officials did not say what the cause for the boil water order was.

 

20th ANNUAL BUTLER COUNTY JOB FAIR SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 25TH

Job seekers in Poplar Bluff will have the opportunity to meet with many different employers at one location next month.

The Butler County Community Resource Council will be holding the 20th Annual Butler County Job Fair on August 25th at the Bess Activity Center.

The job fair will run from 10 am to 3 pm.

 

PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT CAUSING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

Route KK in Stoddard County will be closed daily through late next week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway to be closed is located from Route 114 to County Road 732.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm daily through Thursday, August 3rd.

 

PIEDMONT WOMAN FACING METH CHARGE OUT OF WAYNE COUNTY

A Piedmont woman has been taken into custody in Wayne County on a felony meth charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 40 year old Shawnda Luke was arrested shortly after 2 pm Monday on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Following the arrest, Luke was held at the Wayne County Jail.

 

FAKE MONEY REPORTED AT POPLAR BLUFF BUSINESSES

Multiple Poplar Bluff businesses reportedly were recently given fake money.

According to the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, two fast food restaurants received the counterfeit money over the weekend.

Other area businesses are being asked to be on the lookout for any additional counterfeit bills.

 

NEW DAY MINISTRIES IN POPLAR BLUFF TO HOST FEED AND SEED EVENT THIS WEEK

New Day Ministries will be hosting a feed and seed event this Thursday from 3 to 5 pm.

BRIDGE MAINTENANCE ONGOING ON INTERSTATE 55 IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

Motorists in Pemiscot County should expect delays on Interstate 55 for the next month.

According to the Missouri Deaprtment of Transportation, North and Southbound I-55 in Pemiscot County is being reduced with a 14 foot width restriction as contractor crews perform bridge maintenance.

Work is being done from 6 am to 7 pm daily through Saturday, August 26th.

The work zone is located between Route 84 and the Route 412 interchange.
