GUEST SPEAKER WILL BE ANNOUNCED FOR 6TH ANNUAL STEAK AND BURGER EVENTA guest speaker will be announced today for the Boys and Girls Club’s 6th Annual Steak and Burger event.

The unveiling will be held at 11 am at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 1306 Victory Lane. Tours of the facility and refreshments will also be available. The 6th Annual Steak and Burger event will be held on November 9th at the Black River Coliseum.

Previous guest speakers have included Jim Edmonds, Mike Matheny, and Michael Wacha.

All proceeds go to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Poplar Bluff.

 

REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE CAPTURE OF ESCAPED INMATES Continuing to follow a story for you, officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that a reward is still being offered for information regarding two inmates who escaped from a Southeast Missouri jail last week.

Sergeant Clark Parrott tells KWOC News that on Sunday October 17, Joseph Latamondeer and William Carter escaped from the Pemiscot County Justice Center in Caruthersville.

Carter is facing two counts of murder - 1st degree. Latamondeer has pled guilty to and was awaiting sentencing for domestic assault - 1st degree.

Parrott says that a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and apprehension of the two escaped prisoners.

POPLAR BLUFF ROAD TO CLOSE TODAY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE TWO OF SHELBY ROAD A Poplar Bluff road will be closing beginning today for construction to begin on phase two of Shelby Road.

Poplar Bluff City officials tell KWOC News that Roxie Road will be closed to thru traffic for the project.

Officials say that the length of the closure is unknown at this time but contractors will be working diligently to reopen up the roadway to full traffic as soon as possible.

 

FIRE DEPARTMENT TO HOST CHILI SUPPER AND AUCTION The Highway K Volunteer Fire Department of Doniphan has announced they will be hosting a Chili Supper and Auction on November 4th.

The supper will begin at 6 pm at the fire station, a half mile east of 21 North and K Highway.

There will also be baked goods and donated items available for purchase as well as a raffle of four tires.

100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Highway K Volunteer Fire Department.

 

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HOST DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT Poplar Bluff residents will have a chance to safely dispose of their unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs this weekend.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will be holding a Drug Take Back event on Saturday, October 28th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Poplar Bluff Police Station.

The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Officials say that the DEA cannot accept needles or sharps, only pills or patches.

 

SOUTHBOUND ROUTE 67 TO BE REDUCED TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY Southbound Route 67 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform pavement repairs.

The work zone is located from County Road 272 to County Road 274.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7 am to 5 pm.

 

CONCRETE REPAIR PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN CARTER COUNTY Westbound US 60 in Carter County will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform concrete repairs.

The work zone is located from Route J to one mile west of Route Y near County Road 163.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Thursday from 6:30 am to 5 pm daily, however officials say that the work zone may be set-up for 24-hours a day.
