BLOOMFIELD MAN FOUND DEAD IN CURRENT RIVER
The body of a Bloomfield man was pulled from an area river over the weekend.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 40 year old Donald Kimbrel’s body was recovered from Current River on Saturday, around two miles north of Doniphan.
Kimbrell was pronounced dead at the scene by Ripley County Coroner Mike Jackson. The Highway Patrol listed the incident as a drowning.
ONE FOUND DEAD FOLLOWING FIRE IN RIPLEY COUNTY
A woman was found dead following a fire last week at a mobile home in Ripley County.
According to authorities, 56 year old Sheila Richmond died from smoke inhalation.
The fire occurred Friday at a mobile home located near Doniphan on Highway 160 and an investigation has been started.
GREENVILLE WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN TWO VEHICLE WRECK
An area woman was taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital Monday afternoon after she was seriously injured in a two vehicle wreck.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 23 year old Jessica Pruett, of Greenville, struck the back of a pickup truck on Missouri Highway 34 near Piedmont.
Pruett was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time and suffered serious injuries. No injuries were listed for the driver of the pickup truck.
MAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON CHILD MOLESTATION WARRANT
A Dexter man has been arrested in Stoddard County on a child molestation warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 28 year old Ethan Aaron Cole was recently taken into custody on a warrant for 1st degree child molestation and sodomy.
Cole’s bond was set at $20,000 cash and his arraignment has been scheduled for Thursday morning.
TWO ARRESTED FOR CRYSTAL METHAMPHETAMINE IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
Two people were taken into custody over the weekend in Northeast Arkansas for crystal methamphetamine.
Greene County Sheriff David Carter tells KWOC News that Kager Nole and Mallory Hale were both arrested after deputies discovered over an ounce of crystal methamphetamine and other drugs on their persons and in a vehicle.
Both Nole and Hale are facing charges including possession of crystal methamphetamine with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT TO HOST PUBLIC FORUM
A Poplar Bluff school official will be having a public forum next month.
Poplar Bluff R-I Superintendent Scott Dill will host the public forum for district patrons at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, December 12th, in the Poplar Bluff Municipal Library Theater.
School officials say that Dill will provide an update about the school system, which will then be followed by a Q&A.
POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOLS STUDENTS NAMED TO ALL DISTRICT BAND
Several Poplar Bluff High School students were chosen for the Southeast Missouri All-District Band during auditions held last week.
Zac Batton, Michael Ward, Cody Daughertee, and Joseph Pickard will all perform as members of the jazz band on November 18th in Cape Girardeau.
Daughertee was also chosen for the concert band, along with Destiny Ackerman and Breeanna Helton. The concert band will perform on February 10th at Three Rivers College.
