BERNIE WOMAN KILLED IN EARLY MORNING WRECK NEAR MALDEN

Authorities in New Madrid County say that an area woman has died after she was involved in a single vehicle wreck early Wednesday morning near Malden.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 44 year old Jennifer Shatte, of Bernie, was driving on Route D at around 12:15 Wednesday morning when her vehicle traveled off the side of the road and struck a bridge.

Shatte was pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner George Delisle.

 

MAN FOUND DEAD FOLLOWING SIKESTON STRUCTURE FIRE

A man was found dead earlier this week in Sikeston following what appears to an accidental fire.

Sergeant Jon Broom with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety tells KWOC News that shortly before midnight Tuesday night, the Sikeston DPS Fire Division responded to a structure fire on Marian Avenue.

When fire crews arrived they found the residence had fire coming from the roof area of the garage. Fire crews made entry and found one person in a bedroom who was unresponsive.

The person was identified as 43 year old Aarron Tarrants.

Tarrants was removed from the structure and fire crews and medics tried to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful.

According to investigators the fire appeared to have started in a storage closet near the garage. Broom says that the fire appears to have been accidental in nature and no foul play is suspected.

 

SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO DRUG ARREST IN POPLAR BLUFF

Two people have been arrested after a search warrant was executed last week in Poplar Bluff.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, on December 13th, a search warrant was executed at a residence on South 11th Street.

The warrant was the result of a two month long narcotics investigation conducted by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force, the Poplar Bluff Police Department, and the Butler County Sheriff’s Department.

During execution of the warrant, investigators reportedly seized approximately three quarters of a pound of suspected “ICE” methamphetamine, approximately one pound of high grade marijuana and a handgun with ammunition. Smaller quantities of suspected ecstasy and LSD were also seized. Four minor children of the residence were placed into the custody of the Division of Family Services.

36 year old Lee Hamilton and 29 year old Astasia Phelps, both of Poplar Bluff, were arrested and lodged at the Butler County Justice Center. Officials say that Hamilton is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond on suspicion of the charges of trafficking drugs in the 2nd degree, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and endangering the welfare of a child in the 1st degree.

Police officials say that the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.

 

RIVER RADIO BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR TOMORROW

The blood drive has been scheduled for 1 to 6 pm on Friday at the Greater Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce Community Room.

Officials say that presenting donors will receive a Red Cross t-shirt while supplies last.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED ON FELONY METH CHARGE

A Poplar Bluff woman was taken into custody Wednesday on a felony meth charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old Amy Gordon was arrested last night on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine. She is also reportedly facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following the arrest, Gordon was held at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

 

WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON DISTRIBUTION WARRANT

A woman has been taken into custody in Stoddard County on a distribution warrant.

Officials with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC News that 29 year old Tiffany Autumn Fuchs, of Bloomfield, was recently arrested on a warrant for distribution of a controlled substance.

Fuchs bond was set at $12,500 cash and officials say she remained in jail as of this morning.
