WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY KIDNAPPING TWO YEAR OLDA Bernie woman is in custody in connection to the alleged kidnapping of a two year old child.

According to authorities, the kidnapping took place early Tuesday morning and the child was found during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.

27 year old Nichole Ford has been taken into custody on a kidnapping charge.

 

ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI WRECK A Lilbourn man has been badly injured in connection to a single vehicle wreck Tuesday morning in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 65 year old Richard Smelser was driving on US 61 when his vehicle travelled off the left side of the road and struck a ditch. The Highway Patrol did not specify what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Smelser was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with serious injuries.

 

FALL KILLS MAN IN NORTHEAST ARKASNAS A Lake City man has died following a fall at a northeast Arkansas plant on Monday.

76 year old Marion Bunch reportedly fell through a skylight while working at the plant in Paragould.

He later passed away from injuries he received in the fall.

 

AREA EVACUATED IN CONNECTION TO ONGOING STANDOFF IN FREDERICKTOWN An area of Fredericktown has been evacuated in connection to an ongoing standoff between a man and police at an area home.

According to authorities, the incident began Tuesday evening and a three block radius around the house has been evacuated. A bomb squad is also at the scene.

The identity of the person involved in the standoff has not been released.

 

HEAVY RAIN AND LIGHTNING PRIMARY CONCERNS WITH STORMS TONIGHT While we are looking at chances of showers and thunderstorms throughout the week and upcoming weekend, the National Weather Service says the greatest chance will be for tonight and tomorrow.

According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the NWS the primary concerns with the storms tonight and tomorrow will be locally heavy rainfall and lightning. Chances of thunderstorms are forecast to continue each day through Sunday.

The NWS also reports that some areas may have heat index values reach near 100 degrees this afternoon as well.

 

2016 CHURCH EXPO SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND IN POPLAR BLUFF The 2016 Church Expo has been scheduled for this weekend.

The event will be held from 8 am to 8 pm Saturday at the Historic Wheatley School in Poplar Bluff.

The expo will include a prayer breakfast at 8 am, dinner at 5 pm, and multiple sessions in between. Following dinner, there will be a gospel performance by the Poplar Bluff Community Mass Choir.
