IDENTITIES RELEASED OF TWO KILLED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WRECKAuthorities in Clay County have released the name of two people who were killed in a single vehicle wreck earlier this month.

Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller tells us that Clay County 911 received a call on July 16th about a one vehicle rollover accident where the vehicle had become fully engulfed in flames.

Two people were found dead in the vehicle. Miller says they have now been identified as 24 year old Christopher Smith, of Kennett, and 43 year old Tracy Tippitt, of Campbell.

 

WOMAN ARRESTED IN WAYNE COUNTY ON FELONY METH CHARGE A Mill Spring woman is facing a felony meth charge in connection to her arrest in Wayne County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 46 year old Melissa Gentles was taken into custody Wednesday night on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Gentles is also facing charges of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana.

Following the arrest, she was taken to the Wayne County Jail on a 24 hour hold.

 

 

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING STANDOFF IN FREDERICKTOWN Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, a suspect has been taken into custody following a standoff at a home Fredericktown.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested peacefully Wednesday morning.

A three block radius around the home had been evacuated as a part of the standoff.

In a Facebook post, the Fredericktown Police Department thanked multiple agencies for their assistance during the incident, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the SEMO Regional Bomb Squad.

 

BUTLER COUNTY REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FORUM TO BE HELD TONIGHT IN POPLAR BLUFF Citizens in Butler County will get a chance to learn more about the Republican candidates for various county positions tonight at the the Butler County Republican Candidate Forum.

The forum will begin at 6:30 pm at the Butler County Courthouse. We spoke with the Chairman of the Butler County Republican Central Committee, Eddy Justice, about the event.

EDDY JUSTICE:

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the third floor courtroom of the Butler County Courthouse. The Butler County Republican Central Committee will be hosting a forum of the 15 candidates that are running for the Five County positions in Butler County. Each candidate will be allowed five minutes to introduce themselves and to tell why they think they are the best person for that position. The Forum is open to the public and free of charge and we invite everybody to come out that would like to get to know their candidates better in order to know for sure who they want to vote for. We're looking forward to having this function and introducing everybody one last time before the election on August 2nd. And getting everybody to vote in an educated manner and we’re looking forward to it and I think it's going to be something that will be very profitable to the community and will be something that will look back on and use it as a template for functions in the future.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS UNDERWAY IN REYNOLDS AND WAYNE COUNTIES Crews have begun pavement repairs on Route AA in Wayne and Reynolds Counties.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route AA is being reduced to one lane with a 10 ft. width restriction from Route 49 to the end of state maintenance.

Work is scheduled to continue from 6 am to 9 pm daily through Thursday, September 1st.
