ONE DEAD FOLLOWING ROLLOVER WRECK IN WAYNE COUNTYA single vehicle wreck has claimed the life of a Piedmont woman.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 64 year old Janet Street was driving on Highway 49 in Wayne County yesterday when her vehicle travelled off the side of the roadway and overturned.

Street was pronounced dead at the scene by Wayne County Coroner Gary Umfleet.

 

FEMA DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER OPENING TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF A Disaster Recovery Center is opening today in Poplar Bluff.

The center will offer in-person support to individuals and businesses in any of the 27 counties included in the Missouri federal disaster declaration for flooding and severe storms that occurred between April 28th and May 11th.

The center will be open from 9 am to 7 pm at the Butler County Health Department.

The center will be available today, tomorrow, Saturday, and next Monday.

Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be at the center to discuss assistance and to help anyone who needs information or assistance filing an application.

 

MATTHEWS WOMAN ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE A woman is facing a felony drug charge following her arrest last night.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 31 year old Brittnay Copeland, of Matthews, was arrested on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Copeland was taken into custody shortly before 11 pm in New Madrid County.

 

T HIGHWAY REOPENED TO TRAFFIC IN WAYNE COUNTY Repairs are being completed for areas that were damaged during last month’s flooding.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route T in Wayne County near Lake Wappapello is now open to traffic. A part of the roadway was washed away during the flooding.

The US Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake also says that the Fish Cleaning Station and the Pine Ridge Nature Trail are now open for use.

 

EMPLOYEE OF PARMA POLICE DEPARTMENT ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY An employee of the Parma Police Department has been placed under arrest.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, Janell Winters, of New Madrid, was arrested Wednesday for a class C felony of receiving stolen property.

Her bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.

 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS UNDERWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY Route F in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane over the next week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located from Route 60 to Route J.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 am to 4:30 pm daily through Thursday, June 29th.
