POPLAR BLUFF POLICE SEARCHING FOR TWO SUSPECTS IN CONNECTION TO ALLEGED THEFT FROM AREA BUSINESS Poplar Bluff police say they are searching for two suspects in connection to a theft from an area business.
According to the Police Department, an employee at Wal-Mart told officers that on Saturday two black males entered the store and selected several items including seven pre-paid debit cards.
The men took the merchandise to the sporting goods register and requested that the cashier put $500 on each card. One of the men then asked the cashier to retrieve a box of ammunition after the items were scanned. Once the cashier turned around the other man reached over and pushed the "cash" button on the register.
The employee told police that this would have told the register the items were paid for in full. One of the men then put a credit or debit card in the machine and acted as if he had purchased the items with his card.
The cashier believed the merchandise was paid for with the card because after the “cash” button was pressed the register printed a receipt and showed the items were paid. The men left the store with the cards and other items bringing the total value stolen to over $3,600.
We have pictures of the suspects available on the KWOC Facebook page. If you know the identity of either of the suspects contact Detective Mustain at 573-686-8632.
